Zenitel delivering services and equipment for the C2000 Public Safety Network in The Netherlands

Zenitel has confirmed its contract with vts Politie Nederland (vtsPN) for EARS (LARA 2), the European Tender for C2000 TETRA terminals, Non-TETRA equipment, accessories and services. Zenitel was one of seven companies who signed three of the 12 contracts. The other successful companies are: Abiom, Koning en Hartman, KPN, Lumidee / Imtradex, P2000 alarmeringsystemen, and Sepura. Zenitel will deliver the equipment and services for a period of three years, with a possible extension of another two years.

Rescue operations via satellite - two day exercise in Crete

Heraklion, Crete: An earthquake has just shaken the Greek island. Damage is widespread and all conventional, terrestrial communications have been destroyed. The rescue operations have only one means at their disposal that has not been affected by the quake - a satellite which, from its altitude of 36 000 kilometres, can immediately link the locations involved in the catastrophe with the appropriate authorities.

AT&T to Deliver Country's First Statewide Citizen-Evacuation Management System

AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) has announced a new contract to deliver an innovative custom mobility solution to the Governor's Division of Emergency Management (GDEM) for the state of Texas. The solution, the Texas Special Needs Evacuation Tracking System (SNETS), is the country's first statewide citizen-evacuation system and uses a variety of radio-frequency identification (RFID), wireless and mobile data technologies to provide real-time information on evacuees, enabling the GDEM to better support the evacuees and their families during a crisis.

Motorola and RCC Mobile Radio Systems Provide TETRA Digital Radio Solutions for St. Petersburg Metro

Motorola, Inc. ( and RCC Mobile Radio Systems, Inc. today announced the successful completion of the first stage of the Unified Digital Radio System (UDRS) for St. Petersburg metro. The UDRS project for St. Petersburg metro is being jointly implemented by Motorola and RCC Mobile Radio Systems (St. Petersburg), Motorola's partner in building TErrestrial Trunked RAdio (TETRA) systems in Russia. The project will provide metro trains and workers with digital mobile radios.

Proposed acquisition of Frontline Technologies Corporation Limited by BT

BT and Frontline Technologies Corporation Limited (Frontline), one of the leading providers of end-to-end information technology (IT) services within the Asia Pacific region, announced today that they have entered into an agreement for BT to acquire the entire issued share capital of Frontline (the “Acquisition”) for approximately S$202 million. Frontline provides IT consulting, infrastructure services, systems integration and IT outsourcing to local, regional and multinational customers. The company, which is listed on the main board of the Singapore Exchange, has operations in China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Taiwan and Thailand.
