Resilient Communication Strategies for Emergency Management from the Emergency Planning College is aimed at those who are required to determine the strategies to provide their organisations with a resilient and flexible communications platform that will function successfully under emergency conditions.

Aim: To promote the development of a resilient communication capability and evaluate communications options for emergency situations.

Objectives: By the end of this event you will be able to:

Identify and describe relevant communication systems and platforms

Identify and explain the limitations of these communication systems and platforms

Explain the importance of diversity, flexibility, interoperability and resilience needed in communication in emergency situations.

Determine the process for auditing local communication capabilities Advise your organisation on strategies and procedures to enhance the resilience of the communication systems

Pre-Requisites: Some knowledge of the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 and associated civil protection duties is assumed and delegates may benefit from attendance at Introduction to Civil Protection. This event does not require any prior knowledge of detailed technical matters.
