Lothian and Borders Police  complete the implementation of SunGard’s UNIFI solution to replace its legacy application.

The UNIFI solution is a suite of integrated modules within a single application covering a range of police business processes, from crime, custody and case preparation to the management of driving document productions, vehicle defect re-certifications, and road traffic collisions.

Lothian and Borders Police collaborated with SunGard to provide an interface to the Force’s e-crime reporting tool and after one day 500 crimes had been created on the system via this method.

Lothian and Borders Police’s Partnership Manager, Alan Murphy said, “The implementation of UNIFI in March 2008 was carefully planned, tested and managed by a dedicated team from SunGard Public Sector and the Force. Consequently, the introduction of UNIFI is seen as a positive outcome by those users who are already benefiting from the new functionality that it offers.”

SunGard Public Sector’s justice and security director, Paul Jobbins, said, “I am pleased that the Force has chosen to upgrade its current system and retained SunGard and, more importantly, that UNIFI will provide the back-office operational policing support to help the Force deal with the many challenges of today’s policing environment.”
