Ambex delegates have opportunity to visit to Yorkshire Air Ambulance

AMBEX 2007 conference and exhibition will be held on Wednesday 27 June - Friday 29 June in Harrogate. In conjunction with the Yorkshire Air Ambulance’s (YAA) session in the Conference programme on Thursday 28th June, delegates will have the unique opportunity to take a visit to their Headquarters in Yorkshire and view their work first hand.

YAA is setting the standard nationally through the use of a Dedicated Air Desk (DAD). The system uses the new NHS N3 Broadband link, satellite communications system and satellite tracking system (GPS), all bought and funded by the YAA Charity.

A visit to the YAA HQ will show delegates how the system works and what triggers a dispatch. In the first year the system has reduced the number of ‘stand downs’ dramatically to currently under 18% compared to a national figure nearer 40%. This has meant a cost saving of around £70,000 per annum to the charity.

Delegates will also be able to visit the helicopter on the site and meet and put questions to the crew. Unusually YAA is buying its current helicopter and so successful has this been that it is buying its second which comes into service in the summer.

Trips will be running from the Harrogate International Centre to the YAA two to three times a day from Wednesday 27th to Friday 29th June 2007.
