June 27th 2007 – The London Metropolitan Network (LMN), a high-capacity broadband infrastructure has won the “Best Shared Services Award” from e-government development agency, London Connects.  The public sector award win follows the successful development and creation of a shared IT services environment, in conjunction with InTechnology, an integrated voice and data solutions provider.

With the data and storage services based on commercial offerings that are already proven throughout central government, local government and the NHS, education institutions can benefit from a tailored package that is scaled to meet future growth in data volumes.  This, combined with a simple utility payments model based on the volume of data stored, ensures that the end user only pays for what is needed.

About London Connects

London Connects is a London-wide agency bringing together local, regional, and central government to support the delivery of the e-government agenda across the capital. Partners include the Greater London Authority and the London Councils; together with other cross-London service providers and agencies, including Health agencies, London Development Agency, Transport for London, London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority, Metropolitan Police Service, London Grid for Learning, London Libraries Development Agency, and the London Voluntary Services Council.

The work programme is kept under review and revised as appropriate by the London Connects Board and multi-sector Steering Group. Board members are appointed either by the Mayor of London or by the Leaders Committee of London Councils.
