West Yorkshire Police Join Online Video Race

West Yorkshire Police are to become one of the first Forces in England and Wales to combine their press releases with video clips.

As of next week, it will be possible for members of the public and Journalists to access interview footage that accompanies written news and information available on the Force website.

Patrick Brooke, Website Communications Manager thinks it will change the way organisations look at communicating their work and ideas: “With the proliferation of video based web sites and the movement towards an increasingly technology based workplace, this latest idea provides us with a new way of presenting Policing agendas.”

“It will now be possible for footage from various Police projects and events to be converged with printed material and be delivered to the public and the media with a more visual aspect than ever before.”

“This latest move will give the public a more animated perspective of what the Police do, allow radio stations to retrieve audio from interviews and provide televisions stations with an immediate access to footage on current issues.”

Footage used alongside the Forces press releases can be accessed via the address www.999tv.org. 999TV, currently provides short video features and advice from a number of the regions Police officers and receives up to 200 hits per week. This new medium which recently saw its official launch in Millennium Square in Leeds has proved a catalyst to this latest idea.
