Actuate Corporation has announced that Leeds Primary Care Trust has chosen Actuate Performancesoft Views to underpin its practice based commissioning and Performance Management initiatives.

Leeds Primary Care Trust (PCT) is one of the largest PCTs in the country, with an annual budget of more than £1 billion. In addition to directly providing care for local people, Leeds PCT works closely with GP practices, pharmacists, optometrists, dentists, hospital trusts, social services, mental health services and community and voluntary organisations to commission and fund the healthcare they provide to people in Leeds.

The nature of the organisation as a public service provider, in particular one that works so closely with other organisations, means that for Leeds PCT, effective Performance Management is paramount. This led the organisation to review the market for a software solution that would enable its Performance Management framework to be formalised and automated, driving strategic decision making and embedding a performance culture.

Chris Cooper, Senior Information Manager at Leeds PCT explains: “We were looking for an application that could offer us the ability to collect, see, understand and act upon the data we generate and collect in a strategic way. We knew that to develop effective practice based commissioning; this application would need to be used by every one of our 115 primary care practices, so the solution also had to have a highly visual, easy to use interface. When we trialled potential solutions, Actuate Performancesoft Views was the first choice amongst both our corporate team, and our end users – the GPs and primary care practice staff.”

As well as developing and managing its internal and Government-mandated performance information, including the Annual Health Check, Leeds PCT will also be using Views to manage partnerships with NHS Trusts, Leeds City Council and other service providers.

“Actuate met all of our tender requirements and we are now well-positioned to enhance the delivery of critical practice based commissioning and performance information to all of our various stakeholders,” said Lynton Tremayne, Chief Information Officer, Leeds PCT.

“We are delighted that Leeds PCT has selected Actuate Performancesoft Views as its Performance Management software provider,” said Steve Fluin, Vice President Performance Management Division, Actuate. “We work closely with the UK Public Sector and NHS organisations including Strategic Health Authorities and Primary Care Trusts, and believe there is a pressing need within UK NHS organisations for a comprehensive yet flexible Performance Management system that can deliver visual and actionable information in a management-friendly context. Actuate has the technology and expertise to meet those needs and we look forward to working with Leeds PCT, and other PCTs who wish to improve performance, in the future.”
