EMERGENCY SERVICES SHOW 2007 - 28th & 29th November, Stoneleigh Park, Coventry

The Emergency Services Show 2007, according to the organisers, truly reflects the multi-agency approach taken to critical incident response, as demonstrated so dramatically over the last few months with the terrorist attacks, the flooding and the foot & mouth threat.

In addition to the high profile conference running over the two days, the unique exhibition has been divided into three distinct areas to ensure it is of interest to everyone involved in emergency services - operational officers, buyers and specifiers of equipment and emergency planners. It comprises of: The Exhibition Hall, The Emergency Response Zone and The Outside Exhibition.

THE EXHIBITION HALL

Over 150 exhibitors will be showcasing the very latest dedicated product innovation, technology, services and initiatives for the emergency industry. The categories include:

• Communications & IT

• First Response Equipment

• PPE

• Training and Education Resources

• Vehicles & Vehicle Equipment

• Business Continuity

The following are examples from the diverse product range to be exhibited:

• the new LESS stretcher from Ferno - a revolutionary lightweight stretcher system which has multiple frontline applications and is particularly useful for patient evacuation over difficult terrain

• the Nite Palm PC8 multi function LED Police torch from Nite International, designed with input from the Police

• Ruth Lee Ltd is currently developing a bariatric (obese) training dummy to be shown alongside its new multi trauma dummy

• the Scanning Sonars and Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) from Gardline Environment used in ports and harbours for security operations in addition to underwater searches

• a range of dedicated ladies fireboots, the Ladies Firefighter 4000 by Hunter Century Safety

• Crusader Ltd will be demonstrating its AV & IT solutions. The company has worked with more than 30 Police forces, the MoD and local government to develop and install solutions of varying complexity to help transform emergency operation centres.

THE EMERGENCY RESPONSE ZONE

This unique part of the exhibition goes to the heart of the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 by encouraging the sharing of information between Category 1 and 2 Responders. The Emergency Response Zone, however, goes one stage further by incorporating a whole range of organisations whose services may prove indispensable including NGOs, government, support and recovery organisations.

50 organisations are participating including the Football Safety Officers Association, the UK Airlines Emergency Planning Group, the Government Decontamination Service, the IAEM, Mountain Rescue Council, Emergency Planning Society and GO Region Regional Resilience Teams.

THE OUTSIDE EXHIBITION

250 acres of outdoor space at Stoneleigh Park provides the ideal setting for displaying the exhibited range of vehicles and vehicle equipment from 40 organisations to their best advantage.

• The Defence Fire Risk Management Organisation (DFRMO) will be showing its Major Foam Vehicle. At 26 tonnes, holding 6825 litres of water and with the potential for the foam to reach 55 metres, the Major Foam Vehicle is normally used for airfield fire fighting. There are 77 of them used at MoD airfields in the UK, Germany, Gibraltar, Falkland Islands, Iraq, Afghanistan and Cyprus.

• The British Red Cross is showcasing its new P3 treatment and transportation vehicle, specifically designed to treat and discharge priority three (P3 – walking wounded) casualties in large numbers from a major accident.

• West Midlands Fire Service will be displaying the new D.I.M vehicle (Detection, Identification and Monitoring vehicle). These provide a 24/7 response capability to major national incidents involving actual or potential CBRN or hazardous materials. A West Midlands FS inhouse scientific advisor and two support officers will be demonstrating the kit and will be identifying random substances to test its flexibility.

• The International Rescue Corps will have one of its ambulances on display – used in the Virgin rail crash and also during the operation to find the missing soldier in Catterick – and the boat which was most recently utilised during the Hull floodings to rescue 132 people, 12 dogs and 6 cats!

The Exhibition – including the Emergency Response Zone and the Outside Exhibition – is free to attend.
